YellowSub
The fuel pump doesn't seem to be getting power. It seemed fine, then just stopped. Any ideas? '86 Brat
Cougar
The power to the pump will be cut off if the ignition system isn't working. The power is also tied to the pump through a relay so these areas need to be checked. The pump may just be bad also so check to see if voltage is getting to the two leads going to the pump. If you have 12 volts there and the pump doesn't run then the pump windings would be appear to be open.
YellowSub
Ok, the Brat runs great now. It'll sit forever and idle perfectly, but once you go driving it starts to stop after a block or two. It's acts like it's not getting gas. Has anyone seen this happen before? Cougar
I would suspect the fuel filter is clogged. If replacing it doesn't fix the trouble then I would suspect the pump.
Flyscooby2
Hey: Skipper told me it could be the fuel mgt. gone bad. Wire fuel pump directly to the battery with inline switch.
daeron
jack the car up, four corners, jackstands. be outside. start car, climb underneath (CAREFUL but i HOPE that goes without saying.. MUST HAVE A BUDDY AROUND) jiggle the wires to the fuel pump. see if you can get it to die. it could be a bad wire.
