I am glad and sad at the same time..Sad that I wont be able to see the FF-1 as it makes its way by this part of CT ...but glad that its in safe hands now and will be still heading this way safely with a shipper. When I talked to Andrew yesterday he was saying they just kept stopping and swapping batteries from the other cars ( if I took him right) to keep it going.

Of course I have a small motive to following this cross country trip...the possible future ownership of his XT6 if all goes well.

I will call him later and post and update on the trip

Update...its 11:40 am and the update is..they are almost in Indiana...Andrew is deaf now but otherwise everyone is doing fine...also..as soon as the carb is rebuilt on the FF-1 it will be on its way to the east via shipper..the 75( I was thinking it was a different car...sorry) probably would not have made the journey on its own and Andrew did what was best for the car and put it good hands and it will be shipped tomorrow.

And the trek continues

We got back at 5:30 this morning. WagonsOnly Sr. took I-90 out of Ohio...sorry I didn't stop and get it, Jon. (I was asleep when he got off the Ohio Turnpike.) I will get in touch with everyone I owe cars/parts/money/numbers by this evening. Sorry it took so long...

Any other problems? Glad you made it safely.

Jack

Jack, if it could go wrong, it did. Actually...that first post you made here a year ago, where Paul and I commented that this engine/transmission combination was one of the worst Subaru ever made--please disregard. The engine seems to have some weepage at the heads, but the trans is shifting perfectly. However...the electrical system is shot (alt, voltage regulator, etc), it's consistently blowing the ignition fuse, the starter has a dead spot, only one brake drum is catching...it's an adventure for everyone involved. I have to express my extreme and profound gratitude for everyone who made this possible though--Jack, Russ, Paul, my dad, everyone who's replied to this post--and most especially Shawn. Thanks again.

sounds like it was a fun trip for you Andrew! we need some coupe pix:brow:

oh, and if you do stop by Connie's in the next few days, just let me know and i`ll be here. the stuff is in the garage, but now very accessable. the exhaust system (y-pipe back) will probly have to be taken apart for it to fit in a coupe or XT though.

going to pick up my new brat in philadelphia today, so if you come, you can check that out along with the hatch, 360 truck, and the loyale.

here is a link to the new brat: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110039203838&ru=http://motors.search.ebay.com:80/110039203838_W0QQfromZR40QQfviZ1

ok I'm not trying to be nosy but what the heck is going on here???? I hear mention of a baja, a coupe, and an XT6...something about parts in NY and charging system issues.... Someone care to tell a full story here since it seems rather interesting and all I have so far are pieces to a big puzzle.

Color me curious :-p

What shade do you want?:-p

I'll try and get the whole story as I know it, and then Andrew can fill in the blank spots.

This whole coupe travel deal has been ongoing since the end of July '06. Andrew came out here in his Legacy wagon to help a friend move from the Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. While he was here, Paul gave him my number to get ahold of me because he needed some vehicle help. He calls me and tells me about the coupe he bought from IdahoJack not to long before, but had to get it from basically the Idaho/Oregon border, to the east coast. In a weekend, we went out there in the Legacy, spent the night at Jack's place (much thanks to Jack for the kind hospitality) and the next day (Sunday) decided to drive it back to Laramie to my place. From there on, he was going to be driving the coupe and the Legacy back to the east coast and I was going to store the soon-to-be-Connie's XT6 until he had a chance to come back out here to get it. Well 70 miles into Wyoming from Utah, after a long day of driving, the "Charge" light came on in the coupe. We ended up leaving it at "Little America" (a hotel) and came the rest of the way back to Laramie in the Legacy. The next day (Monday), him and his friend went back out there with a couple spare batteries and drove it back to Laramie to my shop. He left back to the east coast in the Legacy and left the XT6 in Cheyenne until he could return to pick up both cars. Car sat in my shop for the most part while I rebuilt the axles (had to use the old broken boots due to the new ones ripping at the seams) and just kept it out of the elements. Fast forward to Friday night (11/4/06). Andrew and his father left Connecticut and flew out to Denver where Shawn picked them up in his Baja. Saturday morning, they left Denver to Cheyenne to pick up the XT6. Then, they caravaned over to Laramie to pick up the coupe. Now the previous night, I had it running awesome and the charge light wasn't on at all. So I figured it was good to go. I even drove it around the neighborhood and still no charge light. Mind you, this was at like 7pm so it was nice and dark. Of course I had headlights on and such but still no charge light. When they arrived here Saturday morning in the XT6 and the Baja, we went out back and started it up... stupid charge light was on and I felt like an idiot cause I told Andrew the previous night, that it wasn't on. We loaded up the doors from my RX for Trogdor into the Baja and away they went. This is wheremy end of the story ends but I'm sure Andrew can fill in whatever I'm missing. Congrats on getting it home buddy, glad she made it!

Jon, leave the stuff accessible, (just not out in the elements) I need to go down to Danbury/Brewster anyway to show the car to Connie. I'll be down in a day or two.

the exhaust system (y-pipe back) will probly have to be taken apart for it to fit in a coupe or XT though.

Like Jon said....but thanks for offering. If you can, then sure, but if you can't then we'll have to catch up to Jon pretty soon.I hope to have things in order soon where I can give Connie the GLF back, also need to pick up that car in NY...could use your help, maybe visit Jon on the way....???
