burtonsnowman
What year? That will determine which engine/transmission we're dealing with...

ericem
ya ur good, but they run umbelievably smooth, even at that rpm, and super quiet. Just i got this crappy temporary muffler i got installed, and if ur outside , it is SOO loud, inside its still quiet, but it was WAY more quieter, before with my old exhaust. Manarius
yeah mine is the same Odds are, your car has 4.11 final gearing. At that speed, 60mph is ~2500 RPM. 70mph is ~2800-2900 RPM.

Gotta love that 4EAT! (90 mph is ~3500 rpm ,as opposed to ~4300 with a 5MT).

The final drive makes it all. It's why the SVX can do a buck 40 and still have RPM's left in torque range:headbang:
idosubaru
Actually, gear box is pretty irrelevant. The final drive makes it all. i don't think that's the case either. i made that same remark within the past year on another thread and someone pointed out that is incorrect. they went through the math and the actual overall gear ratio changes that occur between changing final drives from 3.7 to 3.9 (that's the differences in the old transmissions 4EAT is 3.7, manuals are 3.9...and the 4EAT's run way lower RPM's at same speed). anyway....someone calculated the difference the final drive made and it was very tiny. i think it does have something to do with the trans.
