Phizinza
I was at a mates place welding up a new exhaust for his 88 wagon and I saw some interesting tires on one of his parents tractors. they were about 30" dia, 7.5" wide on a 16" 6 lug split rim (yes, the 6 lug pattern was 6x139.7) So it got me thinking, I wonder if there is any smaller tractor tires with this kinda tread... Anyone have any pictures of Subaru's with this style tire? I don't think I've seen one yet. Maybe a future project. I know some jeep guys use tractor tires for the deep mud.. Just interested at the moment, I've already got my car set with the Kumho's..

mcbrat
can't really. they were on a screaming built engine XT6 with welded diffs. http://www.titanstore.com/search/odiam/
ezapar
I got to ride in that car. It was either one of the funnest times I've ever had, or one of the scariest. When the radiator hose blew ar about 50 mph on a skinny rump roast dirt road, covering the windshield in antifreeze, I had to ask to be let out. Just found these on that site http://www.titanstore.com/info/4LG379 Good for a non-lifted subie?? Or theres these instead of using Kumho's http://www.titanstore.com/info/412339 Does anyone know if tractor tires have the same type of bead as road tires? Like, can a tractor tire be fitted to a road wheel? I'm also guessing the max speed on these tires wouldn't be so good for beach runs...
4x4_Welder
Yeah, anybody else catch the prices on those, too? For that much, I'll double up on 13" snow tires-
Phizinza
...$$$ ouch... I know a couple of farmers, maybe I'll see if I can find some secondhand ones... Could be a little bit of fun. Just need to find a place that needs tires like that now.

Ditto, I had to ask him how he saw the tree we slid to a stop in front of(after the dust cleared). He says, "oh, I never saw it, I just knew we were off the trail."!!?!?!?! BTW, that was the insiration for my own XT6.
NoahDL88
Those tires are not DOT legal, and their max speed is somewhere around 35 mph, not so usefull on a dual purpose rig, but if you trailer, it could work.

At the moment I use street wheels and offroad wheels (set of 15" Superlites, and set of Nissan steelies with Kumho MT's) so dual use isn't so important to me. I can change all four wheels in under half an hour. And yes, I wouldn't drive these on road at anywhere near 60mph, The kumho's are slippery enough... Uberoo
Now I just need to wait until I am finished building my derby car, then I can go out and "get a little mud on the tires",and the windows, and the body, and the engine...... at least by that time all of the snow should have melted and it will be very muddy. Phizinza
Interesting that this has come to the top as I was just thinking about using tractor tires (not the grippy ones, but the 2wd steering type) on a project offroad race zook. So I'm going to be looking into tractor tires again.
Sweet82
I considered tractor fronts when I was building Summer. I ended up with these. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=7435&cat=500&perpage=12&sort=3&ppuser=584 They are roughly the same size. Certainly there are advantages and disadvantages to each. Aren't Subarus fun? Glenn
