vibration when accelerating - 2000 OBW

Recommended Posts

I had a quick Thanksgiving question.

We drove from TN out to TX and noticed a few things on the way.

We had some steering wheel shake at different speeds. Stopped and balanced the tires. Most of the shake is gone now.

But now I noticed if I'm moving along about 70-75mph, and step on the gas there is a vibration. the vibration starts as soon as I step on the gas, even before the speed increases. So it doesn't seem like it's the wheels.

I feel it in the wheel a little, as well as in the seat...as in the whole car. It doesn't shake everything loose, but it's there.

Anyone have ideas?

Need more info?

Thanks for the help.

might just be something simple like the tires are out of balance, might even be a broken CV boot, might not be clicking, but may have lost some lubrication.

Hopefully the tires are balanced since we just got it done yesterday. (see initial post)

I know that the CV boot is broken, but I start to feel the vibe before the car starts to move much faster. I would think the boot would vibrate more the faster I went, not the more the gas is pressed. (I know that pressing the gas means I go faster...)

Again, this vibration only occurs over 75mph.

well maybe ur tires are just crap? or something is low on oil, i cant remember where i saw this, but another guy said there was some vibration and the guy tryed a better diff fluid, and he said the vibration was gone, he changed probably to royal purple diff fluid, and it made the car quieter smoother, and no more vibration, but might be the CV still.

sounds like an engine vibration to me. check your spark plug wires. a bad plug wire will short to ground under a load but not in normal driving. the easiest way i know to check is to spray them with WINDOW CLEANER and then run your hand along them...if they're shorting out you'll get a shock(don't worry, it won't hurt, it'll just sting like a bug bite or something);)

Good luck,

dave
