AlpineRaven
hey guys, Since my liberty wagon needs new throw out bearing, I've decided to replace the clutch & throw out bearing at the same time over christmas, but I want to machine the fly wheel, but over christmas - near year period there is no chance that there would be a place open to do that, so I am looking for a 2nd hand fly wheel to machine now ready to go in while I do the clutch. Is EJ22 AWD & FWD fly wheels both the same? Are there any better fly wheels that would be recommeneded in EJ22? (ie. if EJ20 flywheel better than EJ22?) Thanks Cheers AP
montana105
From what I recall it isn't recommended to resurface the flywheel,to thin or something.might search that out and make a decision. John

AP From my research it seems that only a EJ22 or EJ18 flywheel will work with the 22, im doing a 2.2 swap inplace of a 1.8 and im just going to resurface my old 1.8 flywheel be cause i can't find any good aftermarket flywheels for the 2.2, i would like to go for a lighterwieght aluminium one but they all seem to be for the 2.5 or 2.0 not 2.2. Keep me posted if you find a good replacement. Good Luck Pete "keep the rubber side down" :burnout: :burnout:
AlpineRaven
Righto - Again now I am hearing different stories about flywheel being resurfaced - Subaru said get a new one as if you resurface it you'll muck it up - I didnt want to ask for the price because I am scared! Reason why - last time I replaced the clutch on my previous subaru, i had a small shudder at specific rpm (i forget what RPM) and clutch place asked me if i have new or machined fly wheel - i said no - they said that is the problem. I dont want that to happen again on my newish subaru. Thanks AP
