golfmasterii
while driving my '91 Turbo today at approximately 55mph in Drive the overdrive suddenly quit working. The engine revved to about 4500rpm, the speedometer quit working the signals quit working and the cruise control quit working. The car will drive and shift normally through 3rd gear but will not shift at all in Drive. All other electrical problems continue whether in Drive or 1st-3rd? mark:-\
Manarius
Any check engine lights? Maybe a fuse blew. I would want to say the speedo is courtesy of a broken VSS, but I think that it all may stem from some fuse.
ericem
you must have blown a whole lot of fuses, because i would think if the TCU werent gettings power you would need to shift manually, altough im not sure if it would work, but i guess it does. nipper
you are in limp mode. If you lost your spedo cable this will happen. one of the VSS sensors are in the spedo head, the other in the tranny. It is possible that you have one dead vss and a broken spedo cable nipper
Legacy777
Replace this piece and you should be good. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/speedocablebase.jpg It's a common issue for the spinning shaft in the base piece to break. One lousy piece causes all that problem. What a pain.
