Richard1296
On a 2000 OBS, does the coolant temperature sensor screw into a water jacket or into a blocked hole. The manual I searched up on the internet made no mention of draining the cooling system enough to keep coolant from running out of the hole. Its a 2.2L engine if that matters. And the same question for the Idle Control Valve. I see references to it leaking antifreeze but the manual said nothing about draining to replace it . porcupine73
You don't have to totally drain the radiator, but if you don't drain the level down at least a little bit some coolant will leak out if you remove the sensor. Same with the IACV. The coolant temp sensor is a little bit of a pain to replace but not too bad if you have a good selection of tools.

Manarius
I replaced the coolant temp sensor on my car and I think I only lost a few ounces of coolant when I did the change. I didn't drain the fluid at all, I just had the car pointed down hill so the CTS was on the top of the engine.
RallyKeith
Yeah, the sensor is one of the highest coolant points on the engine. As long as you have the new sensor ready to go, you can pull the old one out and get the new one in without loosing much fluid. Just be sure to do a proper air purge of the cooling system afterwards.
