ihscout54
Hey guys that 81 single range tranny seems pretty tight compared to the dual range in my 82 that had a bad 3rd gear, i got one little bug left over tho, the 4x4 light is stuck on all the time. when you engage the 4x4 the low light illuminates, makes sense since im missing a step now but what to do to correct it? thanks -Sam
ihscout54
Aside from moving the bulbs in the dash, I just put that dash back together
GeneralDisorder
4WD indicator switch is on the 4WD lever - it's a black plastic push type switch. You may need to adjust the lever or something. GD
ihscout54
There is no switch inside the car but where the shifter rod goes into the transmission there is a sender/switch with 2 wires coming out, something tells me thats not adjustable. Prospeeder
i have a dual range in mine and the stupid 4WD light wont go out, unless iv got the RPMs to like 5k and the alts brand new. It might be that my Gauge clusters messed up hardcore tho, cause the speedo sticks, the trip odometer dont work, and that lights all funky. There IS (or was) a switch also on the 4WD lever. Believe me - it's there. The one inside the tranny is supposed to be for "lo", but since you have a single range it is tuning the "lo" light on even with it in high because on single range vehicles that switch DOES operate the "4WD" lamp. But on D/R vehicles it only operates "lo", and the 4WD switch is on the back of the lever. It's underneath the plastic consoles inside the cab. i have a dual range..... You have an EA82, which is COMPLETELY different. You are just going to confuse the poor fellow. GD
ihscout54
Right again GD, i see where its supposed to go, i think i know what that weird push botton/switch in the glovebox is for now, why did they remove it? i wonder? theres one other other misc unnkown item in the glovebox, looks like a carb linkage or door latch linkage, hopefully its just an extra what ever it is.
