tuner-automotive
I did a search but found nothing. Anyway to reset the ECU on a 92 Legacy NA 2.2L 5spd?
Manarius
Pull the battery cable for 45 minutes or pull the ECU fuse for 45 minutes. Put the car in neutral, put the ebrake on, put the fuse or cable back on, and start the car. Let it get to running temp or 10 minutes - whatever comes first. Then shut the car off. Do not touch the gas or anything.
Setright
Or the factory manual method: Igniton - OFF Connect the black and green connectors under the steering column. Both are single wire, normal-state is disconnected. Igntion - ON Press the throttle to the floor. Lift it back to approx. half-way, hold it there for 2 seconds. Release throttle fully. Ignition - START! Let the engine run for a few seconds, the CEL will be off if there are no present faults. Start driving....sooner or later, within minutes, the CEL will flash at a steady rate, indicating the ECU is reset. Igntion -OFF Disconnect both green and black wires. DONE! Manarius
SetRight, that method only clears the codes, it does not reset the entire ECU.
Setright
That is the method stated in the Factory Service Manual.
