Todays question: How much crap from my 1997 Legacy can i cram into my new 1989 Legacy Sedan?

Basically i want to swap the seats, steering wheel, maybe wheels and possibly some engine parts. Does anyone know if the seats will fit? Thats my biggest concern at the moment.

Also as this new car has an EJ18, is it likely to be carbed? And will i actually get some fuel economy? The EJ20TT was nice but by god it chewed through the petrol.

Thanks for the help.

Swap the whole engine, the older legacy is lighter, so it'll be a bit better on petrol, if you can stay off the accelerator. And hey, it's only 200cc larger displacement, right?;)

You'd have to go through a nasty certification process over here for that type of thing, tad expensive.

I look forward to seeing this legacy.

The cars here! The seats swapped right in, the center armrest/hand brake and gear stick surround swapped right in. I also swapped in the hand brake which bolted up using a different set of pre-drilled holes.

The engine makes a bit of a whine, i suspect one of the cam belt idlers is whirring, ive eliminated the power steering, alt and air con systems by disconnecting their belts and it still whines.

Also on the side of the car theres a sticker "4 Cam 16 Valve".....i look at the engine and i can only see 2 cams, it doesnt look like theres room under that cover for 2 on each head. On the valve covers is stamped 16 valve.

Its a very nice car for the money, the SPFI EJ18 pulls nicely and i got about 30mpg on its first voyage from Auckland (about 300mile).
