TheYeti
Here is a cheap solution: mini neodymium magnets! You can find them at the local Target or Wal Mart. I had some round ones at home already. They are small, but pretty strong... perfect to stop a latchless fuel door from flopping around. I stacked two of the magnets together and placed them on the metal retainer clip thingie (holds the old latch assembly in place) on the inside of the door. There are also two old rubber stoppers that you may have to trim just a bit. The magnets will hold the door shut until you need to open it again. Spiffy
that's a really good solution... although it won't work for me, as I plan on backing through a lot of brush, and that would probably catch and open the door and bend it back... best to have a latch for that... but for normal street use, yeah, much better... and over here in Oregon you can't pump your own gas (*HF* to Jersey!), so it keeps the gas-monkeys from leaving your filler door open... *shakes fist at the air* --Spiffy
Durania
and over here in Oregon you can't pump your own gas --Spiffy Your telling me every gas station is full service? Do they assume that people are so stupid they cant stick a nozzle in the hole in their car? Thats how we all got here.
Flowmastered87GL
No.... not full service... the signs say mini-serve. Basically they pump your gas and thats it. MAYBE if you are lucky they will clean A window... but VERY rarely.

Jerry DeMoss
That magnet idea is great, although for the true redneck:A little duct tape works wonders!

SakoTGrimes
As we all know, EA81s with gas caps that stay closed are rare. My 83 had one. HAD ONE until the pump jockey didn't close it right the day I rolled it and it got crushed. Jerk. Something else that works (for on road use) is velcro
