njdrsubaru
Hey Guys Ok I have a buyer for my legacy wagon and ia m replacing it with a 93 Impreza AWD Auto EJ18, Are the EJ18s as reliable as the EJ22s? Do they essentially share the same trasnmission components? Is it a different beast than the legacy? or should i look for the same problems when buying it? thanks Neo
Legacy777
They should be roughly the same/similar. There are probably going to be some differences, but shouldn't be much.
DerFahrer
The EJ18's are just as, maybe more, reliable than the EJ22 which they're based off of. The two engines are virtually IDENTICAL except for the bore.
WoodsWagon
The EJ18 is hardly ever talked about here, because it's reliable I believe. The only time you hear about them is when someone's taking out a perfectly running one to put an EJ22 in for more power.
edrach
Here's what came up with a search for EJ18 reiliability (of course it helped that I had replied to it and knew it had to be there): http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67752&highlight=EJ18+reliability
