GeneralDisorder
Now that you have posted it rather than searching, go ahead and look at the similar threads listing at the bottom of this page. GD

75subie
actually reading those really doesn`t answer my question. will a ea82 fwd automatic starter fit in my ea81 d/r 4sp?
GeneralDisorder
So try a search. I've answered this many, many times. I think as recently as last week. We get tired of answering stuff, so we point you at the search button cause maybe if you find what you need you'll go there first next time. *I really need to can that response and just copy/paste it whenever stuff like this comes up..... in fact I think I will * GD
75subie
well, i was just looking for a simple yes or no but whatever i`m guessing by "we," you mean yourself:confused: i`m just going to take apart my starter tommorow and clean it all up...... and i didn`t even have to search:banana: thanks anyway! GeneralDisorder
More folks should point to the search - only a few of us do, and only when we think of it. But the answer is that all side-mount EA series starters are interchangable. Cleaning is a good idea - usually they just need the solenoid cleaned up and greased. hatchsub
Take that back panel off of the starter. Its held on by 3 screws. There will be two contacts in there and they are probably worn down. Replace them and your starter will be good as new.
75subie
awesome, thanks guys. i`ll pull it off and pull it apart tommorow to see what the prob is.
Phizinza
The other option instead of point to the sheard button is to just not post... With some modification to the gear on the EJ starter it looks like it would fit fine as well.. But I'd stick with just using a EA starter.
GeneralDisorder
The other option instead of point to the sheard button is to just not post... Sure. Stick your head in the sand - that always works GD
Prospeeder
you know, u coulda just said, yea it fits, and this whole thread would be done with, but you have to drag it out and make it harder for people who do search to find answers, i cant STAND it when i find a thread in a search, and all it says in it is, Oh, just go search 10 times and thats it, and i try to search, and find mostly crap that has nothing to do with what im searching for
