It's Almost DONE!!! WOOHOO!!!!!

Believe it, or not.... But ATF is a pretty good pre-wash hand cleaner. Gets all the really nasty stuff off fairly well, then use whatever else you like to finish the job. Me, I do the ATF, then Fast Orange, finish with some Dawn dish soap.

Two + decades of life as a self-proclaimed mechanical genius (insert smiley of choice here) have taught me the the best hand cleaner is shampoo..any brand. On your head, not your hands, fool!

Washing your hair gets ALL the crud out from under your nails and 'twixt the cracks of your knuckles..lather, scrub the heck outta your knucks & nails using your head for the scrub brush, rinse, repeat..anything else takes longer just to wash your mitts than it does to do the whole shower, IMHO..

Dunno what I'm gonna do if I ever go bald..

:-p

If you want, we could really freak her out and park my loyale behind yours and have two old oil leaking subaru's on her driveway!:)

Hahaha!!! yeah! That would rock! But I gotta warn ya - she's a real pistol. she had me in a headlock last night & was beating me with her sneaker. Glas she wasn't wearing heels!

How about getting a big sheet of cardboard and laying it under the front of the car overnight. That would keep it from getting on the pavement if its not leaking real bad.

Yep - that seems like it's gonna be the best solution. Don't have much other choice, I guess. Can't use gas on the driveway beacuse it's blacktop.

It sounds like the relationship with your landlord is getting kind of kinky. Did you like the spanking? :-p

As far as the oil drip is concerned it is too bad that this is still occurring after all your good work. You did do a very nice job. Putting a drip cover down on the driveway would be the easiest thing to do.

Just tell her to take a look at the chemical make up of blacktop. It's mostly oil anyhow!! If the drive was brand new concrete I could somewhat understand the biatching, but Blacktop!!!! C'mon...

Yeah, I don't understand how a blacktop driveway is a problem here. I drive my wagon to clients houses and I usually stay off the cement driveways due to the leaks. I don't want any customers freaking out in these upscale neighborhoods with any oil spots, but I have no problem parking on a blacktop driveway. It doesn't show! :burnout:

So now my fingers are crossed - doesn't look like you can even GET to 25% of those bolts without lifting that motor if I have to correct a leak .... ugh!

Undo engine mount bolts, jack engine up an inch or two, and use a long extension with a U-joint on it and you can get in there with some patience.

Often a little snugging will help without even changing the gasket. Don;t go too tight but they are ussually about a 1/4-1/2 turn loose after 20ish years.
