Hydroman
Hi, my 99 outback (2.5.L) Seems to start fine runs for a few seconds then craps out. I can kind of keep it running if I pump the crap out of it but eventually dies. Suggest fuel or injection system issues. I did notice some friggin mice screwing around under the hood:mad: and I have caught a couple now in traps. Might of chewed a wire somewhere? Haven't had a chance to do any serious diagnosis yet. Any suggestions? Thanks
Bill90Loyale
Did you or your mechanic change the air filter anytime recently? Check for a disconnected or loose vacuum hose on the engine side of the air filter box.
nipper
Mice can chew through all sorts of things. How many miles are on this car, and do you get a CEL. If no CEL and running like crap, i would inspect the harnesses nipper
Subie Gal
mice are always bad news.... check your 02 sensors, wiring, harness ends... mice under the hood... bad news......
WoodsWagon
Having the MAF sensor disconnected, or the wires to it chewed through, can cause this. It'll fire right up, run for a couple of secs, then die. You would be amazed how long it takes to figure that out at 2am after a full day of wrenching.
