dome24
Ok so my 97 Imp used to be a 1.8w/o EGR, swapped out for a 94 2.2 w/EGR, i used teh 1.8 Intake and blocked off the EGR on the block side. Ran Great for a few hudred miles ~3 weeks, I parked on a snow bank one night at a pretty steep angle, probably 40 deg with the drivers side low. The next morning i went out started it , ran bak in for a shower, go to leave and the windows are thawed but the car not running. It was probably 10-15 F so it had to run for at least 10 minutes. Cranked on it for a bit and no fire, it has spark but no fuel at the filter. So im thinking its the fuel pump but i don't know how to get to it:-\ . It would make sence that it would be under an access panel in the trunk but i don't know exactly. I know its a dumb Q but its to cold outside, -10F, to do some playing around in the car til i know what im doing, im not gonna break something else fixing something:dead: So any advice on doing the replacement on a 97 Coupe? Suzam
Silly question but how much gas is in the tank? Any chance the fuel pickup is now above the gas level? You did say you were on a pretty good tilt.
mellow65
i would just fear starving the motor of oil at that angle if it was low at all. but you say it cranks over so probably not. thats a pretty steep angle to have a car on in the first place and then to let it sit there and run. do you hear the pump running when you turn the key on. it should cycle on for just a sec when you first turn it on. You did say you were on a pretty good tilt. I did think of that, the tank is about half full, but i pulled it off the bank and leveled it out and didn't get anything, put a bottle of HEET in it to break up any water that could be there, no go. I can't hear the pump, but i am hard of hearing anyways, so i pulled off the supply line to the filter and cranked on the key and had no pressurein the line. The wierd thing is parked the same way the night before and it all went ok, i checked the oil and everthing after it warmed up and drove all day for work, just day 2 didn't go as well. the oil level is fine and doesnt look contamitanted at all, only a few hundred miles. Found out today i get a 3 day, and its warming up:clap: maybe i can get something done this weekend Pete rubber side down :burnout: :burnout:
