SoobGoob
should bolt right in. easier than my auto to D/R conversion i would suspect. but i dont know much about ea81s
GoldDiggerRoo
should be a direct swap as far as I know, you've already got the x-member and shifter linkage.
tsutomu
is there any difference between x-memebers?
GoldDiggerRoo
is there any difference between x-memebers? As far as I know there is only a difference between auto and manual x members
GeneralDisorder
The two trannies are IDENTICAL. Clear enough? Only difference is that one doesn't have the low range, but that's all self-contained in the tranny itself. You don't have to worry about it. SoobGoob
you are going to need the DR lever linkage but it will bolt right in
GeneralDisorder
you are going to need the DR lever linkage but it will bolt right in He's using the 4 speed D/R, and the 4 speed's had the same lever for single range and dual range. The push-button single range was an EA82 thing. GD
tsutomu
the lever is the same but the linkage is different
SOOBOUTLAW
Is the tranny you're replacing top or side starter mount?
GeneralDisorder
He has an 83 Brat, so it's a side starter. D/R's didn't come in top-mount, and neither did the EA81. GD
baccaruda
this is so simple... don't worry about it! If you put the transmissions next to each other, the only way to tell them apart would be by the dirt patterns. Take out the single range and put in the dual range, it'll be just like putting the singlerange back in.
