HELP!! Front CV Driveshafts for 1985 RX

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for some help. I am trying to bring a 1985 RX back from the dead and it needs R & L front CV Driveshafts, but of course, none of the parts stores even list an RX. Does anyone know what will interchange? It is the 1.8Turbo with the Hi-Lo 4WD. I thought maybe a Brat might have the same shafts (but of course they don't list any shafts for the Brat)?? We tried winging it and getting shafts for a 4WD XT, but they are different.

HELP!!!

What you have is an EA82T with a dual range 5 speed. MOST Brats are EA81 and 4 speed dual range(stock). Check and see what they have for the wagons. With the dual range and corresponding years. Subaru tried to stick to making interchangeable parts is what I like about them. You also have to understand the RX is a fairly rare model for most part stores to comprehend. Just see what they have for a wagon and you should be set, ill leave the floor for some die hard EA82 user to clear this up.

the XT axles would have worked had you specified Turbo axles. play around on advanced auto parts or some other websites and try to get particular part numbers and specific info so you're armed and ready when you go to order them at your favorite local place. better yet order a set from MWE, aftermarket axles have a bad reputation. MWE is in Denver and is a high quality subaru axle rebuilder. i and others have had store bought axles blow up nearly instantly.
