Petersubaru
just wondering if the rear motor mount on my 86/4wdr. needs replacing??...when attemping to drive in "reverse" I hear a slight "thud"..almost like something is hitting the floor...and when the car is cold, the clutch(new) chatters a little when leaving the corner, but when the vehicle is fully warmed up everything works very smoothly
Jerry DeMoss
I would first check to make sure your pitch stopper is bolted up solidly. Also your tranny mounts could be the culprit also.(I am assuming that is what you mean by the rear mounts). goobaroo
the pitch stopper is a rod that sits right under where your spare tire mounts on top or the engine. it bolts to the engine block and the body of the car and keeps the engine from moving (pitching) forward and backwards. if its loose the engine and tranny will move and possibly allow your trans to hit the floor boards. it has 2 adjusting nuts that hold washers and rubber bushings. either their not tight enough, or the bushings have worn out and possibly need replacing, or u could just tighten it even more to compress the rubber. just my 2 cents!
