shift
i thought about it and i think this is supposed to go in this forum instead of historic because its "retrofitting" a subaru with newer parts. but what is the lug pattern for my car? i found a website that makes adapters for all different types of cars and im interested. if any one could let me know i would greatly appreciate it. -zack
mikeshoup
4x140, same as all the other 80s and earlier Roos Don't get adapters. They easily break. A friend had them on his volkswagen bug, and end up breaking one of them in half. Made for an, interesting ride home.
Numbchux
yep, I've heard lots of horror stories about wheel adapters. broken adapters, broken lug studs, etc. also, the offset change is really bad for your wheel bearings.

Phizinza
Although many people say they have heard them break and they are bad in the Fiat X19 world my brother has never heard of a real story of them failing. He hears plenty of "I wouldn't, they are weak" or "they will break" but when it comes down to it there are more stories along the lines "yeah, I use them on my race car, have done for years" I'm not saying they don't or do break. Just saying there are too many stories coming from people who have never used them...

Just saying there are too many stories coming from people who have never used them... The offeset and price are more of an issue for subaru than the longevity. I have used them on some old dodges and a couple of older chevies. RWD cars where offset really isn't a big deal due to the plethora of wheel styles available. There was a guy in Seattle a few years ago that was making adapters for peugeot 505s (also 4x140). They were freakin expensive though. not to mention that most of the hard core pug guys know about our subarus and our penchant for stealing their wheels. Because of that, they have a less than kind disposition toward us. Power and abuse are the things that break adapters (that and crappy manufacturing). Old subarus make no power to speak of. So that isn't a problem. I wouldn't use them for rally/rally-x either. At least not without some spares on hand.

calebz
so where EXACTLY could i get a 4x 140 pattern set of them? or should i call and ask for a custom set to be made? Its been about 4 years since I had my Peugeot or had anything to do with the pug people. Searching for pug boards is where I would start. A few words of advice: - Do a five lug swap - If you surf the pug boards, don't let them know you are a subaru person. Many will refuse to deal with you. - If wheel adapters were commonly in use, chances are, someone would have told you EXACTLY where to get them by now.
