I've just had a thought that this Alcohol mixed with my gas has made putting in good old Dry Gas (Isopropyl type) usless? Is this right? The original problem is that water and gasoline aren't very miscible (mutually soluble). Isopropanol and ethanol are miscible with both water and gas, and therefore help prevent water from accumulating in the fuel system separately from the gas. In theory at least, the ethanol that's used in E10 is "dry" enough (isn't very hydrated) so that it can certainly pick up additional moisture that might be present in the fuel tank, etc., and additional alcohol shouldn't be needed. Also, Subaru doesn't recommend any more than 10% alcohol content in the fuel. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
