trail_racer
Hello i have an 81 subaru wagon with an ea81. ok, here is the problem that i am having, when the car gets warmed up and i stop at a stop light the engine's idle surges from a good idle to almost dying. i cannot figure out what is going on. two weeks ago it was running very great. i have checked and double checked all of the vac. hoses and they are all on. Turbone
The PCV might need replaced. Get one from the dealer only. Check the hoses for all the emissions, they have a tendency to clog up.
[HTi]Savage
Sounds like it needs a rebuild. next time open the hood. look into the carb, look to see what the fuel spray looks like. look down the secondary barrel and make sure there is no fuel dribbling out of the secondary jet. This will give u the stumbling for sure. Start with that. Ur more than likley going to have to do a rebuild though. keep us posted.
Jerry DeMoss
Another thing I would check is to make sure your carb is bolted down securely.I suppose that when it warms up and things expand it could develope a little bit of a leak down between the base of the carb and the manifold. suburpy
Sounds like a typical carby problem to me (having rebuilt carbys that do this a few times). probably the idel circuit has a blockage, clean and rebuild carby or put on a weber
