SubaruWagon87
I have an 88 Justy, fwd, with the 1.2l motor and a 5 speed. I only spent $150 on it, and it's in pretty good condition, except for the minor oil leak. The guy I bought it from had a new clutch put in less than 1,500 miles ago. It started runny crappy, so I decided to park it and drive my other car. The Justy's been sitting in the orchard for about 3 weeks, and I decided I wanted to turn it into a project car. I was wondering what I should do, and I was thinking I'd try to drop a turbocharged 4 cylinder motor and/or tranny from another subaru of a similar year. I was also thinking if it wouldnt be too hard, to try and convert it into 4wd. Which, if any, turboed motors/trannys could I drop in? Is it even possible to upgrade to a 4 cylinder? nipper
Some people have done bizzare things to justies. i dont think that you can easily make one 4wd, but with too much cash and too much spare time anything is possible. I have seen a 4cyl justy (stock engine) with a turbo, whic would prorarly be far easier. Converting one to $Wd may be possible, but lots of luck finding parts. nipper
Hodaka Rider
Lay off the sauce, nipper! Pushbutton 4WD was an option on the Justy, and they had a 3cyl engine, not 4! Should not be too involved to convert to 4WD if you have a parts car available.
