Lifted EA71 Pics Wanted

Recommended Posts

I know there are very few people out there who have managed to lift their EA71s. I'd like to see pics of them and the list of mods done to them, including lift size. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

+1, i have been taking some gauging interest in the lifted series of our cars. i would like to look @ mods as well :)

'79 brat:

3" body lift

engine crossmember, a-arms, & torsion tube from '81 wagon

3.90 5spd d/r, welded rear diff

'94 EJ22+harness

IMGP3453.jpg

when it drives it's a blast, but the trans/radius rod mount ripped out of the body(rusty swiss cheese style), I finally got my harness cut down and I think I found the battery drain too, so by summer it should be all together, maybe some paint too

Spigma06 'the pickle' R.I.P

'78 wagon

3" lift

gen 2 rear torsion tube

EA81+4spd d/r

this is definitly the easier way to lift a gen 1, put blocks up front and fab in the gen 2 torsion tube.

That blue brat posted above has seen a few 'light' mods... what motor/trans does it have in it now? 1.6, 1.8, or the buick V6?

I've got a thread in the retrofitting forum, a lot of people have done this sort of thing, mostly to ea82 cars.

I've been hindered by snow and otherwise cold weather, but w'ere getting a heat wave this weekend, lol, supposed to be back in the 30's and 40's should have some more done, hopefully.

EJ22 in the '79 brat was a chore, pics in my photo's page... the body lift all you have to do is slightly notch the frame rails to clear the valve covers, but you would have to swap in a gen 2 cars brake master cyl to clear the setup, with the 3" blocks the entire front end had to be frenched... all the rubber parts of the fuel lines had to be replaced to run the high psi fuel pump, otherwise it's exactly like any other ej>ea swap, tons of little things will get in the way, but the result is well worth it...

I just started my new gen 1 swap, '81 brat (1800 D/R) swapped into a '78 GF coupe, 3" body lift, gen 2 rear torsion tube, pics to come soon

The crush rating on these pices is in the tons. Its just a custom steel fab lift from [HTi]. Where fabin it up our selves. This is 4 inches, Technicly you could go as high as you want. But keep in mind that The engine, tranny, Driveshaft and rear diff are droping however far you decide to go. I think that 6 inches would be max, the rest is going to be suspension. Because this is a body lift you have to consider everything that now has to stretch to reach where it goes. And with suspension lift you will run into problems the higher you go. with The Axels the angle will increase the more the control arm drops. Not good.

Soobs rock teh noobs.

I used the EA81 engine cross member with the complete front suspension.

the EA81 engine Xmember has a taper, it gets wider in the front. but in the back its the same with as the EA71. So we just offset the holes in the front of the lift block to accomadate. scense the track is now wider we just droped the strut tower streight off at the same angle so the camber is perfect. now I just have to leingthen the Leading rods, to reach the tranny x member. Where using the EA71 x member because they mount totaly differently from the EA81.
