Phizinza
So I was doing some thinking. With a EJ22, and a locked rear just say, how tough is my center locker going to be? So, my question is. Has anyone broken a center differential from a FT4WD 5sp, either the locking part, or the differential itself? Just interested to know really.. And yes, I know I can't run a welded rear diff with the AWD engaged. But just say the rear end was locked as well as the center
WoodsWagon
Locked rear diff with FT4wd is fine. I have heard of a couple of people smoking the center diff in RX's running RWD only.

So they locked the center diff and took out the front shafts? And the box didn't like this? hmm.
Numbchux
So they locked the center diff and took out the front shafts? And the box didn't like this? hmm. yep, I've heard of a couple people destroying the center doing this, but only after alot of power sliding with more-than-stock power. I was running FWD (locked center and only the front half of the driveshaft...) for months behind my EJ22....no signs of damage yet. and I'll probably be pulling it apart this summer, so we'll see.... I haven't seen anyone do any major damage....but I don't think anyone's put any serious power through it.
Phizinza
Well I think I plan to keep this a stock EJ22.. I was thinking of a turbo with low boost, but I'll have some fun with power in another car. Another thing I was thinking.. If you had a LSD in the rear with a open center diff like the locker one is, wouldn't this make the center diff want to put more power to the front as there is less friction there? Thus when you turn and a front wheel lifts a little it would want most power going to that wheel? I guess that's why they use the center LSD these days..
