apparition13
The clutch cable keeps going slack, and I'm tired of messing with it. Has anyone done a hydraulic conversion? I'm wondering what parts would be needed; photographs and suggestions/instructions would be helpful as well. Thanks, apparition13
GeneralDisorder
Only in conjunction with EJ transmission installations. It's an extremely involved process requireing the swapping of the complete legacy pedal set, hydraulic reservior, lines, etc. Plus the stock transmission isn't setup for hydrualic so you would need a custom clutch fork..... etc. WAY more work than it's worth unless you are also doing a full EJ22 and AWD 5 speed swap at the same time. Get a new cable from the DEALER. Aftermarket are not acceptable. GD
baccaruda
yeah I had a Napa cable blow in a week. search for "clutch cable" and "route" and read up on how it goes in correctly. I installed a dealer cable INcorrectly and it lasted a year before it blew

Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Lubricatin` it with High Quality Grease, can Help it to last Longer, isn`t it?
apparition13
So the consensus seems to be "not worth the bother", and get a dealer cable/housing. What sort of grease would you recommend for lube?
GeneralDisorder
The cables are not greased. They are filled with a dry white lithium lubricant. It's not serviceable, and isn't worth messing with as the cable's cost about $18. A properly routed cable from the dealer should last at least as long as the clutch. 100,000 on a cable is common. Ross
Get a new cable from the DEALER. Aftermarket are not acceptable. GD Depends, some aftermarket ones i have got in the past are exactly the same as the ones i have got from the dealer. And when your turbo melts them in six months anyway, its not worth the extra cost anyway.
matrixops
GD, Thanks for the writeup/pictures. I believe I may have routed my cable incorrectly last time which has led to it breaking in less than 6 months. Luckily, I get a free replacement. I will be following your guide this time around. matrixops
