'86 Brat: cable to hydraulic clutch conversion

Recommended Posts

Only in conjunction with EJ transmission installations. It's an extremely involved process requireing the swapping of the complete legacy pedal set, hydraulic reservior, lines, etc. Plus the stock transmission isn't setup for hydrualic so you would need a custom clutch fork..... etc. WAY more work than it's worth unless you are also doing a full EJ22 and AWD 5 speed swap at the same time.

Get a new cable from the DEALER. Aftermarket are not acceptable.

yeah I had a Napa cable blow in a week. search for "clutch cable" and "route" and read up on how it goes in correctly. I installed a dealer cable INcorrectly and it lasted a year before it blew

I'm assuming you mean here, and I didn't see it. Anyone have a link to installation diagrams?

Depends, some aftermarket ones i have got in the past are exactly the same as the ones i have got from the dealer. And when your turbo melts them in six months anyway, its not worth the extra cost anyway.

GD,

Thanks for the writeup/pictures. I believe I may have routed my cable incorrectly last time which has led to it breaking in less than 6 months. Luckily, I get a free replacement.

I will be following your guide this time around.
