Phizinza Posted February 19, 2007 Share Posted February 19, 2007 This little do-whats-it was unplugged when I got the 89 Subaru Liberty (Legacy) and the car ran fine with it unplugged.. It has two vacuum hoses connected to it. the_postie Posted February 19, 2007 Share Posted February 19, 2007 purge control solnoid.yeah you can dissconnect ,stick a resistor in the wiring so no fault codes and crap runnining and plug the hoses.But if its working leave it in there its there for a reason. All it can really do is close off the pipe to the canister and that pipe on most other cars I've seen is normally just a open anyhow. I know the whole "if it's there, it's there for a reason" thing. But I really just don't believe that anymore. There are so many stupid useless things in cars that I have seen it just isn't funny. If it doesn't run right, I'll try it with it plugged in. the_postie Posted February 21, 2007 Share Posted February 21, 2007 you've got to put a resister,can't remember the ohms, in the wiring that goes to the ecu it'll fault code and run a bit rough.What it does is open that line up from the canister back to the throttle body to purge the vapor/fuel thats in the canister.I know guys that have run without it.You'll need it if you want to get your conversion complianced.Might smell a bit fuelly. That's interesting. I drove the Liberty it came out of just before I pulled the engine and it was fine, not rough at all. Had plenty of go as well.
