Goatboy
What happens if you put regular Power Steering Fluid in the Pump of an EA82?? I just did it! Then heard I wasn't suppose to.

Goatboy
Was I suppose to use regular ATF in that pump? Should I drain the resevoir before starting the car?
xenongod
Nothing most likely...most generic power steering fluids are the about the same as Automatic Transmission Fluid...which I think is what is called for on Subaru power steering units. I know anything and everything about fluids and oils for cars...managed a fast lube for five years...with another eight years of light duty mechanical work...including engine pulls...etc....so..anyhoo...you should be fine...no worries. I don't have power steering...gotta use my muscles to steer...hehhe...take care.
subiemech85
Will John deere HY-GARD regular viscosity work? I have used it as ATF with good results in my cadillac.
Skip
Maybe GB has heard about the power steering in an XT6 This unit MUST use the Subaru special PS fluid. As Xgod says, normal PS fluid in the other Roos will be fine.
