i didnt wanna sound unwelcome-ful.. thats why I stuck the dancing banana in there :grin:

 

hey you know, oops. I glanced up at your user "staff" and checked vehicles, saw the legacy, and somehow presumed you werent talking about the wagon..

 

For that matter, which vehicle were you talking about, because now I am confused... I just jumped the gun and assumed it was a case of someone mistakenly posting a question about a 90 legacy in the "older gen" forum.

 

I only made a point so that the thread would get moved to where you would get more help, I dont wanna be a nag :-\

Ok, I'm not sure if I have my distributor in right.

 

Where on the flywheel am I supposed to drop it? The three lines? like the ea82? or somewhere else?

 

 

and at the begining or the end of the cycle?

 

Pull #1 spark plug, put finger over plug hole and turn engine by hand until you feel pressure on your finger.

 

Remove finger from plug hole and continue turning engine until the 0* mark is aligned with timing pointer.

 

#1 plug tower on disty cap is the one nearest the rear hold-down clip. You want the disty rotor close to that area. The rotor will turn slightly as the drive gears mesh. You may need to re-pull disty to adjust how it finally aligns with cap tower.

+1, Thats what I was about to type. I've done this to many times.. :rolleyes: But now it's time for ej power in my brat! :)

The reason you put your finger over the plug hole to feel compression is to make sure your not on the exhaust stroke. If you skip that and just get the rotor lined up with #1 terminal, and the timing mark at 0, you could have the disty 180 degrees out.

line up the dot on the disty shaft with the little notch in the housing for a more excact no.1 line up.(from FSM) This compensates for the little twist and gets it in the right range for timing adjustment. you won't have a problem
