Petersubaru
this is rather a subjective question here, but, we are wondering what has happen to the ea82/carbed motor, if anything?... when removing the oil cap with the cars motor being turned Off after a highway run, .. smoke is rising from the oil filler tube that smells more "acidity"(a sharpness to it) rather then just gas or oil fumes burning...the oil still looks clean and the car most of the time does not get very warm because of the short trips and very cold weather...compression is about 130psi all around

Short trip driving (avoiding full warm-up), especially in cold weather, promotes crankcase condensation. With some luck what you are seeing is this condensation "cooking out". Of course this is provided you don't have anti-freeze "dissappearing" out of the rad.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo
... crankcase condensation. ... Yes! I think that is Just Condensation.

The engine is showing some wear at that compression but still good. The subary chimney effect on the filler can be a little alarming, but nothing to be too concerned about. Gases get traped in that pipe. It may pay in the cold wether once a week to let the car properly warm up to burn off those contaimenets. nipper
