geekmonster
just wondering what sizes work with this car, kinda thinking of going with a wider tire for tarmac and trying to figure out what size for dirt. what sizes work without rubbing issues? thanks for the help chris
pheonix165
for competitive use, 185/70/13 is the only thing that really works. unfortunately you don't have a lot of options

RONAN
Find some pugs. I run 195/60/14`s without a problem. A lot wider stance.
geekmonster
i have some 185/80/15's on there right now (what the car had on when i bought it) and just scored some free wheels the other day:headbang: . they are 15x7's and not too bad of shape. i believe they are american racing wheels. you guys think they won't be too wide? i was thinking of trying to get some falken azenis for these wheels to run the car in autox, and use the stock wheels with the studded tires in the dirt until we can get some actual dirt tires. here's a pic of the freebie wheels i got from work. Phizinza
Go out to your car, and look at your tires. How close do they get to the fender? Turn the wheels and look at them. You'll soon figure out how much bigger you can go then what you have. I run 215/60R15's as street tires on my Brat. Bloody horrible on dirt. The car slides all over the place. I wouldn't go above 195 wide street tires now unless you are just after looks, and 185 is probably the best cross for a dirt/road tire. When you start talking offroad tires, then I change my attitude. Because of AT and MT's tread, wider still works good on dirt roads. I would like a 235 wide MT on my Brat, I'm using the 27x8.5R14 Kumho's right now. With rubbing it all depends on your wheel offset. So measure that too before deciding on a tire. You might want to find a tire calculator, just check google for one. Helps with the metric/us tire sizes and figuring out total OD.

This one works pretty good. Even tells how far off the speedo will be http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html
