March 7, 200719 yr i wanna get new tires for my 1989 subaru xt6. i want to put max width on the back and next size less wider on the front. could 225/60/14 fit on the back? meanwhile i fit 215/60/14 on the front (BF Goodrich Radial T/A)
March 7, 200719 yr If I'm right in believing your Subaru XT6 is a 4 wheel drive (I don't know for certain) then you WANT 4 identical matching tires on ALL 4 corners ALL at the same air pressure.

March 7, 200719 yr yes it is AWD but the width doesnt matter. it the heigth of the tire. in this case the rear tires only be a little wider. BUT: the heights of different width tires ARE different. Look: it's your car, you WILL do what you like, but the AWD unit is: 1) expensive to fix. 2) well, not fragile, but not "bulletproof", given the opportunity to fail, it WILL. As close as I can figure: 215/60/14= 24.16" diameter 225/60/14= 24.63" diameter

IF 225/60/14 will fit will they?
March 7, 200719 yr Revee is spot on. Can you spell I'd like a new AWD unit please. Many many many posts/threads on this fact. Your owner's manual (which I doubt you have/read) points this out. Sorry, this statement is wrong/ very wrong. " i dont think that much of a difference would hurt." Have you visited http://www.xt6.net/ Please go to that site and post the above statement. Get the real skinny from the guys that know these cars. I think you will be right at home there and find many answers straight away. Lots of guys from here are also there. Good luck - I loved my XT6 - super drivin' car.

March 8, 200719 yr I just bought new tires for my XT6 ..it was running 205/60 15s..it is now running 195/65 14s ( I replaced the rims with stock pie cutters ) I rather run the narrower tire here cause of snow..thinner tires handle better. I agree with Skip ( he is about a Subaru Genius) with going over to XT6.net..those people live and breath these cars and know about every little mod you can make to them... And I love my XT6 too ...love to hate it at times:lol: when it runs good it runs great..when it is in one of its moods...I want to push it off a cliff.
March 8, 200719 yr i want to put max width on the back and next size less wider on the front. Why? Why kill this perfectly good car with ricey mods?
March 8, 200719 yr it doesnt say what are my tire choices are. i just wanna know that 225/6014 will fit without rubbing. then i suggest trying it and finding out
March 8, 200719 yr Bought an XT6 parts car a few years ago that had a set of 215/60/14 tires. Tires completely filled the wheelwells and also looked like crap on the car. Forget about running 225s.
