OK I have a 99 impreza with a totally stock ej22 with 70k on it. I would like to put a turbo on it and would like to know if it has bin done or can be done. I am going to use used parts off other Subaru's to do it.

I would like to know what turbos are best to find for most power and what other parts should I look for. This is my first Subaru to build up. Its so fun to drive I just like it to have more power like the sti's. and will this fit under the stock hood? Rmember I am trying to to this mostly stock parts off other cars.

Parts you'd need would be...

Engine crossmember from 91-94 legacy turbo or 02+ wrx.

Exhaust manifold/up pipe/ downpipe/ turbo from either of the above.

WRX TMIC with an aftermarket silicone inlet hose.

some customed intake pieces based off the Turbo Legacy

and some sort of tuning

Look around on NASIOC, rs25.com, and legacycentral.org

Warning on NASIOC search for about three weeks at least before ever asking a question there or they will flame you like the pricks they are...

BTW where is WV are you?

http://www.nasioc.com has lots of info on this:

this link is about a high mileage ej22 that might have a turbo added to it.

this is about an overseas NA ej20 block which is essentially an ej18.

i would reccomend following the path of this third link. the guy uses an ej18 block and puts the ej22 heads on it, lowering the compression to 8.5:1 which is very boost friendly. you can put all the ej22 sensors on the ej18 block and you get to keep all your wiring.

hope that helps. :)

Also concerning the third link. EJ25 dohc heads on the EJ22 will lower the cr to near the same level. And all sensors are interchangable.

that also is a very good suggestion. the thing with the ej22 is that it has the same forged crank and rods as the ej22t, but it does not have as thick of cylinder walls as the ej18. it all depends on what you plan on doing.

I am from Chicago but my wife is from here and that it Beckley West Virginia/southern west Virginia. my car of choice is the fox mustang I have a 90 lx/cobra :burnout: that I rebuilt over the summer since the roads here rarely go straight I want something to got with the hills and curves. not that the mustang cant but the Subaru does it better

so would it be better just to go with a 2.5 turbo swap and would this bolt up to the stock auto trans. Here's one is stroking the motor some thing that can be done with out having a hard time finding parts. any way this is still in the stage of what to do but some will be done and I thank you for you help.
