PeterD Posted March 23, 2007 Share Posted March 23, 2007 so after looking for some ford parts for a friends truck i went looking in the import section hoping to find some usable and much needed subaru parts. i came upon a 96 outback that looked like it went off the road in a rally. i poped the hood and to my suprise it had an EJ22 in it. now i have read about people taking out the EJ25 and replacing it with an EJ22 but as i looked closer at the little vin number plate by the left strut bearing it said EJ22 under engine type:eek: when did the outback get an ej22 is this a first generation outback thing only? Hondasucks Posted March 23, 2007 Share Posted March 23, 2007 They actually had outbacks very late in the 95 model year, they had the "outback" on the back as a sticker, like the OBS, instead of the actual plastic logo... At least that's what I read lol... True. And they also sat at "non outback" height, had the normal 95 bumpers, and had the two tone scheme. crazyhorse001 Posted March 24, 2007 Share Posted March 24, 2007 There are several early OB's around here, They do look rather odd at standard height, & even with the same 5spoke wheels as my LSI.
