GeneralDisorder
Usual information will be required first - carb, SPFI, MPFI, or turbo? I'm going to guess carb - rip it off and throw it in a dumpster. Get a Weber or SPFI. GD
Phizinza
Sounds like the little pump that gives a squirt of fuel for that first push on the throttle (what the hell is that thing called, lol ) So when you put your foot down there isn't enough air to pull the required fuel through the jets and if this pump doesn't work you get a very lean mixture. A tear down and clean out some times fixes it, a rebuild should fix it, but I'm with GD, dump it and get something better.

In the USA we call it an accellerator pump........Roger
pheonix165
when was the last time you checked your timing and vacuum advance operation? on my 86 the vacuum advance was shot, causing the car to fall flat on its face when trying to accelerate on anything over slight throttle application. next would be to check all the seals around your carb. nothing major, have a look with the engine running see if you can detect air leaks (i found carb cleaner to be good assistant). if the seal at the base of the carb leaks...replace it. if the seals in the carb leak...replace the carb, the rebuilt kits can be pricey and are ultimately useless anyway plug gap is a very good thing to check. and while your at it take a multi-meter to your plug wires. i'm guessing your using your original coil...i'm thinking thats enough said there. when was the last time your fuel filter was changed? don't remeber?? change it anyway!!! thats all the basic stuff i can think of for the moment. make sure you post how it goes

Also pull cap and check if advance is functional.
