Uberoo
I just took my EJ22 swapped 87 wagon for a test drive.WOW!!!If I drive normal in fwd(like a granny) I can drive normally. But the instant I punch the gas three things happen at once. The car veers to a side,The revs climb, and a the tires screech. Start out in first...Punch it at 5 mph, instant wheelspin in FWD.Ease off.Shift into 2nd at 15 ...Punch it =wheelspin. Then just for S&G I was going 25 in 3rd.Punch it,Can you guess what happened? You got it WHEELSPIN!!! When I was doing the swap I told some of my buddies That once it was done I would do a 6K RPM clutch drop.I feel scared to do that...Ive never had a car that could burn the tires in 3rd so Im scared...And these tires are about an inch and a half bigger than stock, not to mention way wider...hmmm the county fair is gonna have a burnout contest soon...Maybe I should remove the front axles and burn the piss out of the stock tires... Phizinza
Yeah, I heard that you can burn the up easy.. I'll never know as I'm on AWD.. It's awesome what 4wd/awd gives in the way of traction. I done a 5K drop on a dirt road up hill in low range and I was flying in seconds, only a tad of wheel spin. And that's with all three open diffs. You have 4WD right? Try doing a take off with it engauged! Wow it's fun...

kingbobdole
With my EJ25 AWD Rx with rear LSD I can do about 3k dumps and get all four to give me some spin... I couldn't imagine driving it around in FWD:burnout:

Numbchux
yep, the ej22e is incredibly well-matched to the lightweight EA body style. I love shifting into second at only about 10 mph and then holding WOT almost all the way out to redline. it makes me every time!!! the first 5 months or so were really interesting...no driveshaft, and one sticky front wheel bearing. it was like 1.2 wheel drive....I could roast that tire sooo easily. then I repacked the bearing, and made a real driveshaft hanger so I could put the whole thing in.....and took it ice racing

WoodsWagon
Ohh yess, now you know the fun that can be had. Does the front of the car rise up a fair bit when you accelerate hard, then bust into wheelspin? That's what happens with mine. The only thing you have to watch out for is that if you're hammering on it to pull away from someone at a light, both front wheels can get going, and the front of the car will slide to the right, potentially into the car accelerating next to you. This is with 215/75r15's BTW, I bet the car would vaporise stock size tires. RWD is awesome. 170' was my personal record. Hold the e-brake, drop from 2krpm, rev it up to 5.5krpm, the right rear will spin until it heats up, then the left rear will bust loose and the car will hold posi. Let of on the E-brake a little bit, work the throttle to keep it at 5.5k, and go until your right arm gets tired holding the E-brake. You can do major distance, and nice fishtail marks. Phizinza
I really can't wait til I bolt my street tyres back on (they are directional 215/60R15's.) Grip like superglue with the old EA81, And seems I've already got 4 wheel drifts on my mud terrains on dry pavement, I'm guessing I'm going to have a lot more fun with the street tires. I better change them over soon, before my mud terrains disapear..
WoodsWagon
Proper RWD subaru burnout technique: =That EA81 wagon has an open rear diff BTW. In one of the other vids' it does some one wheel wonder circles.
Storm
^^^ That's awesome! They should get some kumho colored smoke tires to match the wagon!
