jakethesnake
I just picked up a 1996 legacy, and it has 14 inch rims on it. I have a few questions. Can I swap 15inch rims from an older turbo legacy onto it? or will I have to change the rotor/hubs or anything. Wil 195/60 R15 tires fit on the car? I can use rotors designed for 14" wheels with 15" wheels correct? I eventually plan to put outback struts on it, so I'd like to have 15" rims for tire choice. And if anyone knows, when installing outback struts on a legacy, what is the difference between using legacy springs and outback springs. lmdew
15" rims will fit and the tires. If you change the rotors, you will need to change the calipers and brackets. Larry
porcupine73
Hello and welcome! The 15 inch rims should work provided they 5 lug. If you switch to larger rotors, you will have to change calipers and mounting brackets - the existing won't fit over the larger diameter rotors. Legacy springs I think are a little shorter than the Outback springs and possibly a different rate.
nickb21
One of the other members here (hklaine) put 16" WRX rims on his 96 (I think). And it looks nice. But since you mention putting Outback Struts on I'm guessing you're looking for more of an off-road fit. So 15's would allow for a higher profile tire. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=5227&ppuser=
