i know this is far off. and well after i'll be back in washington. but i've been trying for years to get a weekend trip to naches going.

.

it'll be my self held welcome back run.no specifics as of now, but sept. is after the main fire season and when it should start getting wet again. and i should have the toyota on the trail... with luck. otherwise i'll be sporting the soob.

.

subarus, yotas and heep's are welcome.depending on how many people want to come, is whether i get an event permit or not. semi organized event, i'll be heading up some of the runs, and i like making trail itinerarys...

.

subaru requirements:.

1.8L or larger engine.

welded rear.

lift.

d/r tranny.

no fear of body damage... rolling or difficult trails...

You know I am in as long as it ain't the first weekend of the month.

If the turn out is big we can break up into groups to save permint costs or everyone can pitch in.

Is this going to be a day run or a multi day run?

Start on the east or west side?

That last part is a good point Greg.

I'd like to run it from the other side. I've done the better part of it heading East. I think we did roughly 60 miles or so. It's been a while. But I remember complaining the whole time about being stuck behind a big group of slow moving Jeeps. Letting them pass when we stopped to fix a flat was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made while driving my Soobies off road.

Here's a pic at the pass on the way back.

I kinda like starting from the west side at the almost begining off the 70 road where it is really steep and slick and go all the way over to eastside to where the trail ends on the pavement (Little Naches RD). I don't think that is 60 miles, but it sure seems like it when going slow.

The 676 is also a cool trail along with the trail to Milk Lake. Doing all three off these is an all day run with a small group amd minimal repairs.

kaner flats, milk lake, tripod flats, summit/manashtash ridge (which includes the goofy and moon rocks), lilly pond lake... definately at least a 3 day trip. not sure about taking the naches trail over. depends on whether i'm trailering the toyota over. and whether i'll be running propane or not. we'd be camping out at kaner flats or another little camping area we used to go to across the little naches river from kaner flats.

i'm writing an email back to the sheriffs dept to request new maps. the ones they sent me a few years ago, were stolen on this last deployment with all my other stuff.

Green maps are really good. I have the whole mess of them. There is also a jeep site that is GPSing the trials. I have entered some of the info into my GPS to just mess around with it.

Keep intouch with us on the run.

I want to go, But it depends on a few things. Talk about it later.

rob, you always have an excuse not to wheel with me... but if the same stuff is going on, that was a few years ago. i fully understand!

but i hope you can make it.

so, where's all those, "where's my hatch patrol?" folks... it's amazing none of them have the guts to pony up... don't post unless your actually thinking of going though:Flame: :Flame: .

where is naches? And if my car doesnt meet one of the requirements could I go?It probally wont have a lift by then. But it will be welded up,DR,Ej22,And no fear of body damage(adds character)

naches is over chinook pass on hwy 410. there's a trail from greenwater that also acesses the naches basin. the trail just so happens to be the naches pass trail. .

.

the majority of the trails we'd run are difficult to most difficult. no lift,no go. but always welcome to come hang out at camp, run the logging roads and easy trails, or find a seat in another rig..

.

yes yotaroo's are welcome and encouraged to show up!!!

no lift, no go for a subaru. if my truck even gets done in timr to go. the reason is you will be running with modified toyotas and subarus. no one is going to want a winch fest to haul a car up a most difficult trail. not saying you can't possibly make it. but a lot of the trails out there are steep and some really good off camber towards drop offs. not near as bad as rim rock though.

an unprepared vehicle in those conditions, make a bad day for everyone else. i'm sure you can see if someone would have an open seat though.

Rooinater, Turbone and I have been poking around with an eastside run the weekend of Aug. 3, 4, 5. Nothing concrete just talk. We both have tight free time issues. I know your junk isn't ready but maybe you can get Turbone to help out with as far as an extra seat. We will know more soon.

if i can get the car ready by then.... and if that weekend is free. still got a/t tires though...

They are just as easy to pop. If it ain't wet you should be able to do most all of what we like to do.
