Andyjo
So, i just helped a buddy of mine change his struts in his 99 forester. when we finnished, we realized that we forgot to put the bump stop (foam/rubber thinger on the strut, not the boot) back on one of the struts. Does it really matter? Should we rip it out again and put in the bumpstop?
nipper
Well Subarus dont hit the bumper stops too often. But knowing how you drive, and guilt by association, yes you should. These prevent metal aagianst metal slamming when the suspension bottoms out. Usually when the suspension bottoms out, its not a gentle affair so something will break. nipper
dmanaenk
Do it. It will pay off when he hits a pothhole or a curb in the dark. I was able to bottom out my struts, even thought they are pretty stiff.
