Jutboy
I know that these are not that common but a friend from MA afford me this kit for 800 bucks? Its a jdm twin turbo with two ihi turbos newly rebuilt (he doesn't know the model numbers). I guess it was designed for a 2.5 (he was going to put it on his STI) which I assume will work with my EJ22T because I'm putting 2.5 heads on it. He's also giving me an old uni-chip (hes not sure what kind it is but I;ll post it later) Please tell me what you think.....scam/deal, good performance/just a huge head-ache? Thanks much -Justin
Reveeen
It is my understanding that this is far from a "bolt-in". A JDM twin turbo set-up is from a car that is set-up for left hand drive, you have a right hand drive car, so I would expect "trouble" clearing the steering shaft. I am not saying it can't be done, but I would prepare myself to have to fabricate some parts.
Jutboy
what about the price?
GeneralDisorder
Due to the aformentioned complexity of the swap, the TT front clips aren't as expensive as domestic STi or WRX clips. On the whole I would expect that an entire clip would be in the $2000 to $2500 range - meaning that $800 seems a bit steep considering you are only getting a few bits of exhaust tubing and some used turbos. Especially with the work needed to actually use that stuff. I've seen pics of those TT's put into RHD postal legacy's though. GD
rllywgn
As I recall from previous threads on this topic, The brake booster gets in the way of this swap also.. I'm in no way saying this is an impossible task.. I cant say i would be willing to pay 800 for a used setup with whats shown in those pictures.. oil lines, coolant lines, downpipes, etc.. would have to be sourced or fabricated. Money talks comes to mind..
