RallyKeith
Anybody know of any good u-pull it yards within about 30 minutes of Brattleboro VT? Might be looking to take my brother out for some good old fashioned fun! Keith

the_bard
Chrikey. You aren't all that far away from me... Hey guys, there's another Northeasterner here!!! Ahem. Anyway. I've heard there's a junkyard up near Hudson Falls that's nearly 95% Subaru's. Haven't been to it yet, though, or found out what it's name is. Sure would like to find it, though... when I get enough time, I guess.

Well, I'm leaving at 9am tomorrow (wednesday) morning with a van full of crap to deliver to my brother. I'm probably heading home again saturday morning. We'll have some time to kill friday while his wife is at work so I thought it might be fun to run out to a junk yard to see what we find. I'm not looking for anything in particular, except my dad is now looking for a good alternator for his 91 Loyale wagon. I'll see how things go and maybe I can stop by saturday. Have you heard if that's only older subarus or if there might be some newer ones like legacy and impreza in there? Could be worth the 1:30 drive from Brattleboro Keith
the_bard
Keep in mind, I heard it second-hand... haven't put too much interest in finding it yet, seein' as I haven't gotten that new Subie. I just did a search across google, and couldn't find it... ain't in the yellow pages, either, from what I can see. Found the original post here Originally posted by kevinsUBARUOnce you get it, theres a really super junk yard with 95% Subaru (or it was) in Hoosick Falls right before you get to Bennington, VT. It cant be more than an hour away from Troy right on Rt. 7 Shows what my memory's like... Hoosick Falls, not Hudson Falls. Found a Cahill's Auto Parts located there, on Rt. 7. Wonder if that's what kevinsUBARU was talking about. Also have a friend down at work with the last name of Cahill... wonder if there's a connection there, too
moosens
Cahill sounds extremely familiar....with Subarus that it.I'll bet that's the one.Could make for a great meeting place someday.
the_bard
That actually sounds like a great idea... I wonder if they give group discounts? I dial the phone: "Um, hi. I'm part of a group of nationwide Subaru enthusiasts... (at this point the Cahill guy's rolling his eyes and resisting the temptation to beat his head against the wall)... and I was wonderin' if y'all had any problem with a bunch of us Northeastern guys sorta descended on your yard all at once on a particular day? (sounds of thumping as the counter guy goes into convulsions)... I'll take the silence to mean yes. We'll let you know when we'll be stopping by. Oh, and do you offer group discounts?..." dialtone... kevinsUBARU
YEah, just like the_Bard said theres one just before Hudson Falls (Right side of road when youre headed towards Bennington. There is a pulloff right at the enterance that has about 10 wrecks in it beside the road at a time). I had the name and everything..hold on, I believe I posted all of the contact info over on nasioc.com about 1.5 years ago....let me go and try to find it! THere is also a fairly large one in Vergennes that I ordered lots of stuff from a while ago, but I have since forgotten the name. Sorry, but at least it gives you an approximate area to search :-)
kevinsUBARU
ok, as described to me by another member. THis should get you in the ballpark! "state Rt. 7 (aka state Rt 9 in VT) in Hoosick Falls, NY (2 miles before the VT border), 25 miles east of Troy, NY." Happy Hunting
the_bard
Dug this one up from the grave... sorry folks . Their online inventory system is finally up, so I took a brose around it. They don't seem to have much in the way of Loyale stuff, but I'm going to give them a call regardless. One (or more) of these j/y's will have my attention come Thursday.
