Remove rear center seatbelt on 2k3 Legacy

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to remove the rear center seatbelt/shoulder strap? No one will use it for now, and it's sort of annoying to see it in the rear view mirror.

Also, where can I find the manuals and maintenance schedule for a 2003 Legacy. I got mine used and the manuals didn't come with it.

Thanx

Do you have it connected down to the lapbelt? Or recoiled up into the roof?

(I can't recall "exactly" what they look like on the newer models, but I believe it is like most manufacturers where it can be tucked up fairly cleanly into the roof.)

There is a section on here for manuals, but I don't know if they have your year. Take a look.

The shoulder belt comes from the roof to a connector on the seat (looks like a permanent connection). Then the latch hangs between the roof and the connector to another connector. If I release the connector, the belt rides diagonally from the connector on the seat to the roof. If there was a way to release this connector to go back into the roof, then my problems would be solved.

I guess most people just deal with this on the wagon? My car didn't come with the manuals (bought used).

I dont know if the 2000 model year is different, on my '00 OB wagon there is a small slot in the buckle which connects to the center shoulder belt (pass side of rear center seat). A small screwdriver or key will release it. After this the shoulder belt retracts into the roof. If it didnt release this way I dont know how the rear seats would be able to fold down.
