3Pin
Thanks to everyone for help and confirmation of putting in a 2.2 into my Forester. The transplant was a success! For those who didn't see the posts from a month ago, I purchased a 98 Forester automatic that had about 128,00 miles with a cooked 2.5 engine. Couldn't find a reasonably priced 2.5 replacement, so I put in a 1995 automatic 71,000 mile 2.2. The Forester also had all the signs of a bad clock spring, no cruise, no horn and Air bag light on. The engine went in great, the clock spring did to and fixed the cruise and horn, but the Air bag dash light is still on. Any ideas anyone? outbackusjunkus
I had a airbag problem with my 97 outback...someone here sent part of a subaru manual which showed how to pull codes from that system. I don't know if its the same on your car...but all that was involved was jumping two connectors and watching the air bag light flash the codes. Hopefully someone here has the "real" manual and can chime in...I know its not in the Haynes book. I would also check all of the airbag connectors, if any of the "lock" thingys are not right it will also set off the light. 2.2's rock!
