hatchsub
Hey what type of sealer should i use when installing my weber with its adaptor plate? Also im just thinking of removing the coolant hose that runs to the base of the carb and blocking the hose off instead of JB welding the hole shut. Does that sound like a good idea? I have that black permatex high temp gasket maker. Would that be good for getting a seal at the carb? Thanks for the help guys. Will be installing in about 2 weeks and will let you kno the results. Subaru_dude
i coated the gaskets in shellac... shaved that little piece of tube that sticks up off the manifold flat (just stick a sock or something in the intake manifold hole to make sure no debris get in), put a ring of permatex around the coolant hole before putting the adapter plate and it's gasket on, disconnected and plugged the coolant hose, and it's all good. hatchsub
So i would be better off using shelac than permatex high temp black?
Subaru_dude
i don't have any experience with the permatex... but i know the shellac seems to be pretty good stuff.
desertsubaru
I use this stuff called, super "300" gasket sealer form a gasket. Its real sticky but can be brushed on(Brush in can). It also wont degrade because of gas.
