Goatboy
My cooling fan, the one on the passenger side of my EA82 Wagon, squeels loudly and rattles a little. Its really bad when its cold out. I haven't really looked at it to much but is there anyway to grease these fans or do I have to find a replacement?? -- GoatBoy --
thealleyboy
Naw...Lubing it won't help... That motor is on it's last leg, so do yourself a favor and find a replacement quick. You NEVER want your EA82 to melt down on you. A lot of them end up getting scrapped due to a blown headgasket or cracked head. good luck, John
Goatboy
Well, its got two fans. One on the passenger side and one on the driver side with a more traditional shroud around it. Is this a normal setup? This is my first soob so i am unsure of what is considered normal.
AlpineRaven
Replace it asap mate, one time I was driving my car had A/C on whole time it was squeling as well and I ignored it thought "Oh nothing will happen", and when I approched to the traffic lights I couldn't hear it at all, so popped the bonnet up to check it out, the fan motor was soo hot but siezed up bec it was worn out must have melted the metal together?, pity it was on a very hot day and i drive the car against the heat/hot air and the temp was high till i stopped driving and looked for a replacement. I'm pretty sure you can find one at the wreckers (Junk yard) and get another one that works, or get it reco done on it!. Good Luck Cheers Tristan
SubaRube
I believe all the EA82's with AC have two fans. One mechanical, one electric. Just don't run your AC and you should be fine until you can find one at the JY. Unless of course your mechanical fan is bad too. Keep close tabs on your gauge. Goatboy
Yeah. Its less than 50 degrees outside so I don't think I will be running my AC anytime soon. My gauge stays pretty low on the temp anyway. I'll be safe until I can get back to the JY!
