I learned something about CV half shafts made in China. If it dosent slide into the splines on the wheel with very little effort, then take the thing back to the auto parts store and get another one. I had trouble getting one to fit. Turned out the splines on the re-manufact one was machined with the ribs being to big. I took it back and got another one that fit like a glove.

Also, the dealer wanted 180.00 for a half shaft. I bought one at the local auto parts store for 65.00.

Replacement was relatively easy on my 2000 outback.

Anything made in china tends to be junk. I wil only buy brand names myself for replacement parts, especially critical ones.

Nipper, you have to remember that those poor Tiananmen Square protesters and students in the labor camps and slave labor factories are now 17 years older and long-term torture tends to diminish their quality of work. When you get one day out of thirty off and no health care, it’s tough to do quality work. I’d also use a Geiger counter or lead detector on cheap metal products from China. Somebody’s buying cheap scrap metal from the old Soviet Navy… :Flame:

Look for the Union Label (song) ...:dead:
