EA engine into Baja Q's

Featured Replies

I want to put either an EA81 or EA82 in my current Baja project.

1) Dose the engine turn the right direction? If not, is flipping the diff. in the VW trans. the only way to fix this?

2)Who has the cheapest adaptor to bolt up the engine?

Uh.... you realize you would be losing like 150hp, right?

But yes, the engine turns in the right direction. As for an adaptor, you'd probably have to take a lot of measurments and have something custom fabricated.

Hey, you're in Medford too!

And I thought of something else. You could just swap the entire drivetrain over from an EA car. Then you'd have true old school Subaru 4WD, and that would be very, very cool. You'd just need a new driveshaft probably, different lengths.

Stock 1500cc single port = 52HP

Stock 1600cc single port = 68HP

Stock 1600cc dual port = 77HP

There isn't 150hp TO lose;) I know the K.E.P. makes the kit to put it together, but it's awful expensive for what ya get. Just wondering if there are alternatives to the K.E.P. kit.:burnout:

You're talking about a VW sand rail type thing, huh? By "Baja" I thought you meant late model AWD Subaru pseudo-pickup!

ask NUG,he id this with a 2.2.and the kennedy adapter kit is about the only way to go.unless you mount it mid engine, then you are fabbing alot obviously.cheers, brian
