Setting timing on EA81

Recommended Posts

I searched, but couldn't find any EA81-specific details on what exactly you do to the distributor to advance or retard the base timing. Embarrassingly, I couldn't find the whole timing light/adjustment procedure in the FSM either

Can anyone give me a quick how-to of what to do to change the timing or tell me which chapter/section of the FSM it's in?

Thanks!

loosen the bolt at the bottom left of the disty base. should be a 10 mm socket. turn the disty clockwise or counter to advance or retard the timing. have engine idle at 700 to 800 rpms. manual says 8 degrees but i've found it varys slightly with each car i've owned.
